JRSP 2022 Awardees Present Research Projects

On 15 December, the Ebony Initiative held the closing event of the 2022 Junior Researchers Summer Programme (JRSP) that began over summer. The event which convened JRSP awardees, their project supervisors, their family and their friends marked a fulfilling close to the summer programme and a perfect wrap up of Ebony Initiative’s activities for Term 1.

The highlight of the event were the project presentations of the participants of the summer programme. Their presentations were based on findings from the EI funded six weeks of full time research guided by supervisors. The Ebony Initiative Director, Dr. Althea Maria Rivas briefly introduced the programme before the awardees took turns to present their projects and talk about their experience as budding black researchers in the summer programme.

Designed to offer black (African, Afro-diaspora and biracial) undergraduate students the opportunity to build their research skills and explore research pathways, the JRSP builds the capacity of a cohort of budding researchers every year.
