Pelumi Obisesan

The first recipient of the SOAS Ebony Initiative Research Scholarship, Pelumi is a PhD candidate in Development Studies. Using a decolonial feminist lens, her research examines women’s experiences with transitional justice processes implemented against the background of the Boko Haram inspired crises in the Lake Chad Basin region. Prior to commencing her PhD, she garnered extensive work experience in West Africa working on access to education in Nigeria, fostering sustainable development and investment in Senegal in her roles with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service and DAI Global LLC.
